Biography
Nominated Travel Writer of the Year, British Press Awards, 2005
The last 12 years have been spent hopping on and off of planes, trains and donkeys in the name of work.
After graduating with a degree in English and Publishing, I worked as a reporter for a commercial radio station in Oxford. Finally giving into itchy feet I travelled for a few years, freelance writing before joining the Independent on Sunday. After four years on staff, formerly as the Deputy Travel Editor and latterly as Travel Editor, I went back out into the world of freelancing. I’m now writing for a number of national broadsheets including the Independent and Independent on Sunday, the Telegraph, Guardian and specialist travel magazines such as ABTA Magazine and I edit the travel pages for SHE magazine. You can hear me here and there on BBC Radio (MacAulay & Co).
I’m currently based between London and New York.
For cuttings pre 1999, please email me to request hard copy.
